This article is for what some call the "MTV" or "Boomerang" members of the generation born around 1981 or later. In other words, those who are in their twenty-five. With that out of the way, I will start with two, easy to follow lessons that will eventually lead to the effects of this article. The first is the story of the market population.

According to the 2005 Yearbook published by Ibbotson Associates, the average long term stock market is 10.4% (p. 29). Ibbotson starts their long term financial data series in 1926 (pp. 27, 201). Only three components yields Stock market: earnings growth, valuation of level changes (ie, the change in the P / E), and dividend yields. Assuming This trend almost eighty years, will continue, we can say that even with wild fluctuations that are caused by world wars, weather or economic disasters, the market always seems to find a balance and return to it's standard. Now keep the 10.4% figure in mind.

Lesson Two: compound interest. This simple calculation is based on investing a fixed amount and get a return on your investment based on a percentage. Take $ 100 and put it in the bank at 5% for a year and end with $ 105 a year later. But membership allows you to keep $ 105 and get $ 110.25 in the second year. Go foward another year and is at $ 115.76, but said no more. Of the original $ 100, which secured a $ 15.76 profit. Neat, huh? But not a lot of money. Is well, you still have the idea. Invest, leave it alone and watch it grow. That is the principle behind compound interest.

So, what is the problem? The big deal is what happens if you use the magic of compound interest and the stock market together. Sprinkle with a regular investment strategy and bang! But I'm getting a little ahead of me, so let's start again.

Suppose you are typical of 24 years. You start every day with a cup Starbucks Coffee, the coffee Vente $ 4.00 after tax. Along the way, you stop and get a Grande Iced Cappuccino by another $ 4.00. So every day that goes around eight dollars a treatment yourself. But on weekends, you buy a pizza loaded instead. Or even a coffee, anyway, for this example, we spend about $ 58 a week on coffee, cigarettes, pizza, beer, or funny, something like that.

I am asking to resign to it. So, dump the expense. Leave the caffeine habit. Or give up the cigarettes are bad for you anyway. Now here's what to do with that money. Invest in the stock market, or more specifically, mutual funds. Try something safe and large covering the entire Standard and Poor's, S & P 500 or the Wilshire 5000 index. Each week, the launch in a month or $ 58, $ 232. Or, if you must, $ 3,000 per year. Each year, reaching 60. You can open an online account with many Internet brokers that practically no charge.

I know what you're thinking, because (a) I am a bit psychic and (b) because I have a daughter aged 22 who is saying, "You're crazy!" She said that because (a) will not give up coffee, (b) can not imagine doing for the next 36 years, or (c) is being asked, what is the point? Well, the point is that they have invested $ 3000 for 36 years or $ 108,000. But here's the brilliant result. Because of what you learned in the first paragraphs, investing in the stock market should get at least a return of 10.4% and, because he left and reinvested, you have the miracle of compound interest working for you.

So why is it that you mola? Are you sitting yet? Because you have a cool ONE MILLION DOLLARS sitting in your account! And you only spent a little more $ 100,000.

Now think about it. You are young, ambitious, and really miss that Starbucks jolt? Will he? Well, then go buy a kilo of hazelnut coffee cream for $ 8 from the grocery store. Surprisingly you can make 64 cups of coffee, enough for a month of caffeinated pleasure. And will happy to do so, while your money is churning out a million dollar payouts. It's your decision to make now and the easiest way to get millionaire who never have. You can thank me later. Love, Dad.
