Recently I attended a Junior College game, which included two of the best teams in the Midwest. In the stands were filled, I realized that there were a dozen college coaches in attendance. I will use this to explain how powerful the network can be and how it will grow exponentially.
Their network is so strong as you do, and includes strength coaches on their network. For example, you can find 30 coaches after a couple of years in the profession. If none of the coaches grids are linked to more diverse, then not much. If your group of 30 trainers has few coaches that are connected to larger networks and strong then you're on your way.
The most impressive thing about networking is that it can grow exponentially in a few years, from 1 to 100,001 cars.
Here is the makeup of my network I watch the game last night. All coaches following were present.
This network is an example:
Orv Salmon, Coach, DMACC. Orv and I have known for years and both worked for the Gary Garner Drake University.
Ben Jacobson, Technical Director of the University of Northern Iowa I recruit Ben to play for the University of North Dakota.
Steve Krafcisin, head coach of Women, DMACC. We have two schools together. North Dakota and Iowa State University.
Bob Sundvold, Former college coach for 22 years. Bob and I worked together at Iowa State and are now business partners.
Matt Murken, assistant coach, Wayne State University. Matt works with Head Coach Rico Burkett at WSU. I hired Rico to North Dakota and joined my staff as an assistant at Stetson University.
Thom McDonald, Commissioner of Iowa Community College Athletics. Thom and I work for Championship Productions and is also a former assistant at the University Drake.
Spencer Esslinger, Assistant Coach, DMACC. Spencer worked our basketball camps at Iowa State University for many summers.
Dana Goodwin, assistant coach of Women DMACC. Dana worked our fields of basketball at Iowa State University for many summers.
BJ McGinn, assistant coach, DMACC. BOJ has been a junior assistant at the University of Arizona and an assistant at Wayne State University for Rico Burkett.
Jim glash, assistant coach, Missouri-Rolla. Jim was a successful coach in 9 years Olney Community College. Bob Sundvold and recruited me some of the players in Jim Olney.
Rob Jeter, Head Coach, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Rob is a friend of Ben Jacobson and two have played against each other. Because of their relationship, Rob is also connected to all the above.
Then after the game, Bob and I returned to Ames and met with Iowa State University Staff after his victory over the Tigers of Missouri. The network continued with the following:
Jeff Rutter, coach assistant, Iowa State University. Jeff worked our camps in Marquette, was an assistant on my team Stetson, and later served as head coach at the University Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
Greg McDermott, Head Coach, Iowa State University. Greg is linked in various ways to this group. He continued as coach assistant at the University of North Dakota. He went to Ben Jacobson and Rico Burkett. Next was the head coach at Wayne State University, then Dakota North of the State. Burkett helped at Wayne State and Jacobson in Law. Prior to ISU, Greg was the head coach at the University of Northern Iowa Two of his assistants were Jeff Rutter and Ben Jacobson.
TJ Otzelberger, assistant coach, Iowa State University. TJ has been an AAU coach and an assistant at Chipola CC, Florida. TJ played for Jeff Rutter, Parkside for one year. It was McDermott's original staff in the ISU.
Eric Henderson, Assistant, Iowa State University. Hendo played for McDermott and Burkett at Wayne State.
Josh Carper, Graduate Manager, Iowa State University. Carper played for Sioux City East Jeff Vanderloo, a friend of mine and McDermott.
There have been 16 connections to my network I saw last night. The amazing thing is not thinking of seeing any of the coaches. They were there doing their work as recruiters.
Networking is essential to the health and productivity of your career. Once aligned with a coach, automatically is connected to all connections and all connections and all connections ………. this is how it is constructed from 1 of 100,001!
