arizona bye week 2009

The 2009 season is a month old and so far Dan Haren can be described as a thing so far: bad luck. Haren has been fantastic in his first five starts this year, but has received very little support for the overall implementation harmless the Arizona Diamondbacks. Haren will have a difficult time winning the Cy Young Award this season because to some strong competition in the National League (Santana, Gallardo, Lincecum, Billingsley) and winning a total reduction of non-offensive.
Haren has been a top fantasy option since the 2007 season with the Oakland Athletics. It was 15.9 with a 3.07 ERA over 222 innings pitched minute. Accumulating 192 strikeouts this season where we really emerged as a solid rock for the pitcher to have on your fantasy team.
Haren moved from Oakland to Arizona, where has been a little better. In '08 he went 16-8, with 206 strikeouts and an ERA of 3.33 in 216 innings. Intimidation was also double blow to the top of the Dbacks starting rotation with Brandon Webb.
Before the '09 season, Haren immense value was recognized and his name and went up the draft boards. He was seen as one of the best pitchers to have this season due to low effectiveness and the big strikeout rate. The only important question was whether he could go another season 200 inning after having thrown over 200 the past four consecutive seasons. So far there has been no doubt that is perfectly fine and still dominant form.
Through five starts, who is 2-3 with a miniscule 1.54 ERA and 36 strikeouts through 35 innings pitched. Lights so that he has released has been unfortunate to lose three starts, but seen very little support from his teammates at the plate. He could very easily be 5-0 and be the first leader of Cy Young. His fate aside, Haren is an unbelievable pitcher, and Brandon Webb lost earlier this year, is crucial for the Dbacks to Haren being as effective as it has.
Looking ahead: Haren should have an incredible year. You can not win over 15 games, thanks to his lackluster run support, but his ERA and strikeouts will be one of the best in the league.
