Pizza
$19.48
Pizza is the single most popular food in the world, and wherever you go in America you can always find it. In fact, we consume 33 billion dollars worth of pizza annually from the 63,873 pizzerias in America. That's a lot of slices. This year's pizza centennial is a milestone laid claim to by Lombardi's Pizza, which opened its doors in New York in 1905. Celebrating this anniversary is Ed Levine's A Slice of Heaven: The Ultimate Pizza Guide and Companion, in which Levine and some of America's best writers and cartoonists set out to answer every cosmic question involving this beloved food: Is Chicago pizza really more of a casserole? What makes New York pizza so good? Is the pizza in New Haven better than anything found in Naples? Is the best pizzeria in the world found in Phoenix, Arizona? What and where is the Pizza Belt? How good can homemade pizza be? Why was Nora Ephron petrified that her very first date would take her to a pizzeria? How did someone named Fats Goldberg end up being New York's preeminent thick-crust pizza maker? Is there an American pizza aesthetic? How does one go about judging pizza? Is there such a thing as a good frozen pizza? All these questions and more will be answered in A Slice of Heaven by Levine, along with some of his favorite writers, including, among others, Calvin Trillin, Ruth Reichl, Roy Blount, Jr., Arthur Schwartz, Mario Batali, Jeffrey Steingarten, and Eric Asimov. A Slice of Heaven tackles the profound questions and never-ending debates that invariably come up whenever the subject of pizza is brought up in polite company.
What is like living in Old Orchard Beach Maine? I will be moving to Arizona in October.?
Which is like live in Old Orchard Beach Maine? I will be moving to Arizona in October. I do not know much about Maine, in addition to what is online. There are a lot of Old Orchard Beach. Any information would be great. What should I bring? A good place to eat? I will also look for a job when you get there. Any place that will hire from out of state? Is completley deserted in the winter? Do you get much wind?
I was born in OOB, Tha Dirty Dorchen, or more commonly, Old Orchard Beach. In the winter is very cold here so you need to keep warm. The summer is much warmer 90-70 degrees every day. As for places to eat there are not many places that are open when the tourists leave. There are plenty of places in the nearby towns of Saco, Biddeford, and Portland. From Portland, of course, is not the capital of Maine! That would be Augusta. Most jobs around here often hire people from outside the country to leave the state will not be a problem. During the summer, OOB is the largest city in Maine, keeping a pop. 150,000 +. In the winter fall to about 10,000. The wind comes mostly during the spring and can get very bad if you are in an open area.

Hiring Right
$55.48
"Reading Hiring Right was like spending a highly productive afternoon in conversation with Susan J. Herman, the author. She had clear answers to my questions about hiring and anticipated many concerns that would not have occurred to me. In a concise manner she clarifies the hiring process from her experience as a business owner and consultant, from her knowledge as a researcher and teacher, and from her empathy and warmth as a trusted friend. An essential resource book with a highly personal touch." --Bob Marx, University of Massachusetts "For an employer who really wants to 'hire right,' this book is a must. It is more than a 'how-to' book; it literally helps one to think about the total process from beginning to end. Rather than viewing the hiring process as one of matching skills to jobs, Hiring Right emphasizes the importance of viewing the whole person in relation to the organization. A practical, yet conceptually sound book." --Stephen Fink, University of New Hampshire "Highly readable and technically solid--Hiring Right will be a valuable resource for practitioners and students alike--a timely contribution." --Larry Shetzer, Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration, University of British Columbia "In this age of global competition, total quality management, ISO 9000, and high technology, people are the critical resource. Hiring Right's direct style makes it truly useful. I particularly like the way the author presents the various alternatives and approaches to the process of hiring people. Hiring Right will be very useful in our Corporate Headquarter's Human Resource Department as well as our member companies around the world." --Thomas P. Putnam Chairman, Markem Corporation Turnover costs an organization as much as two times the annual salary of any given position, with the average being 150% of an employee's annual salary. Hiring right the first time represents enormous savings in time, money, and anxiety, as well as embarrassment and ego damage for both the unsuccessful worker and hiring personnel. Hiring Right is a hands-on, workbook-style manual for managers of organizations (large or small, for-profit or nonprofit) who hire employees, for human resource directors who train line managers and supervisors to do the hiring, and for consultants who want to put written materials into their clients' hands. Handy and practical, this volume takes you through each step in the hiring process, including job definition, recruitment, interviewing, testing, and checking references. Each chapter briefly outlines key concepts for managers and includes several exercises and worksheets that will serve as a complete hiring strategy that can be customized to any manager's own organization and specific hiring needs.
