Welcome to South Africa.
The South African Cape. Where else can you navigate the worlds biggest waves, ski on the snow slopes only in Africa, go to a "big seven safari, visit the birthplace of Nelson Mandela and bungee the highest bridge in the southern hemisphere? Eastern Cape, of course!
The second largest of South Africa's nine provinces, the diverse landscape ranges from the Cape of the dry desolate Great Karoo to the humid forests of the Wild Coast and Keiskamma Valley. The area also includes the fertile Langkloof, known for its rich harvest of apples, and is cradled by the southern Drakensberg mountains.
Here, widespread hills are juxtaposed with sandy beaches, a small town here in South Africa comes to greet a gently offering hospitality and friendship and without asking nothing in return. This is where the `big seven 'roam, and where the tropical forests share their space with abundant birdlife and nature at its most generous.
The shoreline of this province extends from the river Umtamvuna in KwaZulu-Natal, to the Storms River mouth on the scenic Garden in the west, and extends inland to the north, border with Lesotho. Today, the Eastern Cape incorporates the previously independent "homelands" of Ciskei and Transkei. Despite its colonial past, the Eastern Cape remains the home of the Xhosa-speaking people of South Africa. With its almost seven million people, the Eastern Cape, third largest population of the province who live in approximately 169 600 km2 of land.
The climate varies considerably in Eastern Cape, but it has one year holiday weather all year round. The east coast regions enjoy hot summers and moderate winters and Port Elizabeth experiences a daily average of 7 hours sunshine. The regions of North are much cooler. Some areas receive rain throughout the year, although erratic.

Museum Nelson Mandela
The museum was officially opened on 11 February 2000, at a function to coincide with the tenth anniversary of the release from prison of Nelson Mandela in 1990. The birthplace / museum is located in Qunu, in the N2 highway, south of Umtata.
Addo Elephant Park
Located 73 kilometers Port Elizabeth, eastern Cape of South Africa, the park is a true success story of conservation.
Valley of Desolation
The product of erosion and volcanic forces of nature over 100 million years, the Valley of Desolation is one of the most spectacular views of the country. A steep and narrow road leads into the mountains surrounding the valley, a journey that they dared not for the weak of heart.
Grahamstown National Festival Arts
Africa, largest and most colorful cultural event is held annually in this university city, offering a selection of the best of both indigenous and imported talents.
Hole In The Wall
Just south of Coffee Bay, on the eastern seaboard, is a prominent rock formation with a big hole in the center. This site has become a distinctive symbol for the Xhosa, in memory of a historical tragedy – the "Great slaughter of cattle." The structure only with a huge rock that has broken off giant opening carved through its center by the waves. The local Xhosa call this place "izi Khaleni" which means "place of thunder".
