As wide-eyed graduate assistant basketball coach at the University of Arizona in 1985, I felt like I had arrived. Working as a school coach school for five years provides a good experience but I've never prepared for the next 24 months. Meet Coach Lute Olson from my student days at the University of Iowa, helped me land of opportunity once in your life. My wife and I had just been married the previous year and this adventure with open arms. Both worked full-time and we hardly enough time to catch up. The two had agreed to enter the profession of college training would have every ounce of energy and creativity we had. We were about to take full advantage of the position of these two years on the Wildcat staff.

The 1985-86 season was only the third the many years that the Hall of Fame Coach Lute Olson who roam the outside of Arizona. The rebuilding process began two years ago and laid a path a great future for the program. Olson Among those who signed in late spring 1983 was Steve Kerr, an "Opie" Taylor will appear from southern California. There Olson struck a late game of summer league with his ability to shoot across the floor. Least one step of the load speed and athleticism, Kerr took the opportunity and enrolled at Arizona in the fall.

Not long after hitting the campus was clear that Kerr ingredients of a special player. He knowledge and moxy of a veteran NBA guard to go along with his ability to long-range shot. Assimilated in the Wildcat program easily and immediately became a leader on and off the floor. Kerr was beginning his third season in the fall college he joined the Arizona team.

Immediately after coming to Tucson I charged full speed in my new position. A self-proclaimed organization freak, I created in my new office. Actually it was a cinema with a narrow table against the wall. I had worked on the baseball field dugout Jerry Kindall if I had to. Taking in all tasks imaginable filled my days and settled in. My running mate, Tom Billeter, was also a graduate assistant and we became inseparable for the next two years. The recruitment, practice, weights, conditioning, desk study and preparation of the game were part of the challenge and embraced us 24 hours a day.

One month in our first season began to feel comfortable with the personnel and equipment. Six freshmen dot the list including the High School All-American Sean Elliott near Cholla HS. Was evident early on that Kerr was so nasty and competitive as they come. Unpleasant in the sense that anything that was associated with would be defeated, a trait that coaches to covet. When a mother duck feels threatened she do anything to protect their young. The same can be said of Kerr. As a Wildcat basketball player of Arizona, mother goose was on their side. Kerr was the mother hen, who proudly and fiercely protected and represented his flock.

As the season progressed, it was clear Wildcat team that had the ability to be very special. Halfway through the conference season, rumors of a championship was heard around the Pac-10. Finally, the scenario was ready in the balmy for a party with the legendary UCLA Bruins. Having to win at Pauley Pavilion at UCLA was the only obstacle standing between cats wild and a championship. The Bruins had Reggie Miller and just by luck, retired Hall of Famer John Wooden sat in front of our bank in your favorite location. We had a future Hall of Fame in Lute Olson and a team led by Kerr, who can not be denied. By winning the game in Los Angeles at night, Kerr proved himself as King of the Cats. No one expected this young team loaded to make noise this year. Maybe down the road, but not this season, the fans thought. We flew home that night with the Pac-10 championship trophy and a taste for champagne.

Adjectives are often released to the players who smell this rare leadership skills. The coach on the floor, the general, or the tail are terms used television broadcasters. Steve Kerr was all wrapped in one neat package. Moreover, their public image was an A +, as was his ability to speak as a Senator. Too good to be true? The icing on the cake was his ability to organize his team to victory and, of course, his jump shot. I have fond memories of the perfectionist Kerr, shooting threes around the perimeter at the McKale Center quiet late at night. Each shot of sleep pleasant success depends on a meeting with their self-inflicted percentage targets. Were forced to shoot when you are tired and will continue his task until completed the goal. Never say die, was his motto and he lived it every night in the shadows of its court of origin. Steve fills us with pride, when he finished his NBA career 13 years as the main chain of three shots of a percentage point. His most famous shot came from a clever pass Michael Jordan in Game 6 of the ALCS 1997. This buzzer beater closed one of the Chicago Bulls historic six World titles. I've never been around or have had the opportunity to coach a player who possessed all these qualities. Very few coaches do.

This article is for what some call the "MTV" or "Boomerang" members of the generation born around 1981 or later. In other words, those who are in their twenty-five. With that out of the way, I will start with two, easy to follow lessons that will eventually lead to the effects of this article. The first is the story of the market population.

According to the 2005 Yearbook published by Ibbotson Associates, the average long term stock market is 10.4% (p. 29). Ibbotson starts their long term financial data series in 1926 (pp. 27, 201). Only three components yields Stock market: earnings growth, valuation of level changes (ie, the change in the P / E), and dividend yields. Assuming This trend almost eighty years, will continue, we can say that even with wild fluctuations that are caused by world wars, weather or economic disasters, the market always seems to find a balance and return to it's standard. Now keep the 10.4% figure in mind.

Lesson Two: compound interest. This simple calculation is based on investing a fixed amount and get a return on your investment based on a percentage. Take $ 100 and put it in the bank at 5% for a year and end with $ 105 a year later. But membership allows you to keep $ 105 and get $ 110.25 in the second year. Go foward another year and is at $ 115.76, but said no more. Of the original $ 100, which secured a $ 15.76 profit. Neat, huh? But not a lot of money. Is well, you still have the idea. Invest, leave it alone and watch it grow. That is the principle behind compound interest.

So, what is the problem? The big deal is what happens if you use the magic of compound interest and the stock market together. Sprinkle with a regular investment strategy and bang! But I'm getting a little ahead of me, so let's start again.

Suppose you are typical of 24 years. You start every day with a cup Starbucks Coffee, the coffee Vente $ 4.00 after tax. Along the way, you stop and get a Grande Iced Cappuccino by another $ 4.00. So every day that goes around eight dollars a treatment yourself. But on weekends, you buy a pizza loaded instead. Or even a coffee, anyway, for this example, we spend about $ 58 a week on coffee, cigarettes, pizza, beer, or funny, something like that.

I am asking to resign to it. So, dump the expense. Leave the caffeine habit. Or give up the cigarettes are bad for you anyway. Now here's what to do with that money. Invest in the stock market, or more specifically, mutual funds. Try something safe and large covering the entire Standard and Poor's, S & P 500 or the Wilshire 5000 index. Each week, the launch in a month or $ 58, $ 232. Or, if you must, $ 3,000 per year. Each year, reaching 60. You can open an online account with many Internet brokers that practically no charge.

I know what you're thinking, because (a) I am a bit psychic and (b) because I have a daughter aged 22 who is saying, "You're crazy!" She said that because (a) will not give up coffee, (b) can not imagine doing for the next 36 years, or (c) is being asked, what is the point? Well, the point is that they have invested $ 3000 for 36 years or $ 108,000. But here's the brilliant result. Because of what you learned in the first paragraphs, investing in the stock market should get at least a return of 10.4% and, because he left and reinvested, you have the miracle of compound interest working for you.

So why is it that you mola? Are you sitting yet? Because you have a cool ONE MILLION DOLLARS sitting in your account! And you only spent a little more $ 100,000.

Now think about it. You are young, ambitious, and really miss that Starbucks jolt? Will he? Well, then go buy a kilo of hazelnut coffee cream for $ 8 from the grocery store. Surprisingly you can make 64 cups of coffee, enough for a month of caffeinated pleasure. And will happy to do so, while your money is churning out a million dollar payouts. It's your decision to make now and the easiest way to get millionaire who never have. You can thank me later. Love, Dad.

Achilles Tendon Physical Therapy Exercises : Achilles Tendon Massage Techniques

Northern Arizona University (Hardcover) Northern Arizona University (Hardcover)
$22.57

Any university is composed of faculty, students, and staff. But these living components change over time and in varying degrees, while the campus buildings are more permanent, remaining for decades, a century, or longer. This book looks at the buildings that have graced the campus of Northern Arizona University from its opening in 1898 to the present. The school began with a single building, Old Main, and it was joined by five other structures prior to World War I. In the following decades the campus remained relatively small, expanding to approximately twenty-five structures by the late 1950s. During the tenure of President J. Lawrence Walkup (1957–1979), the university effectively doubled in size, spreading southward and adding more than forty buildings, including an entire south campus academic center. Since 1979 the campus has witnessed the addition of more than thirty structures, most as infill within the existing campus layout. Arranged chronologically, this extensively illustrated volume briefly describes the history of every building that has been a part of the university’s physical layout. The authors describe various structural aspects of each building and provide entertaining and informative anecdotes about events and people associated with the structures. By combing the university’s archives, Drickamer and Runge have turned up photographs of each building as it looked shortly after construction and at present, providing a fascinating visual time lapse. With more than two hundred images of campus buildings, many of them never before published, Northern Arizona University: Buildings as History provides a wonderful pictorial chronicle of the campus that will interest architectural historians as well as all those who have called NAU home.
