arizona september 2009 events

arizona september 2009 events arizona september 2009 events

I moved to Scottsdale in August 1976. So, some may call me a native. But for those of you who have never heard or Scottsdale, let me tell you ita why it is so famous. It was the winter home of Frank Lloyd Wright who built Taliesin West as his retreat. It was one of the local favorite Charles Wrigley as well. More recently, is the home of Mike Tyson, Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley, and Muhammad Ali, who all have houses nearby. Robert Kiyosaki (Rich Dad, Poor Dad) and Go-Daddy (domain provider) have their businesses here. It the location for the TPC golf course, a favorite of the professional tour. We are the spring training home of the San Francisco Giants and the neighboring cities hosting the Chicago Cubs, along with more than half of the major baseball teams in the league. Next year near Glendale, will host an event little known as the Superbowl. We also carry out the Barrett-Jackson auction of classic cars every year.

We west Phoenix border, south of Tempe and Mesa to the east. The population is 250,000 and our income is about $ 20,000 more than the national average. We Scottsdale Community College, home of the Fightin Artichokes' (no kidding) and a private airport.

But our ita of time it takes in newcomers. The Phoenix area summers are infamous for cooking in a crisp 105 to 110 degrees from June to September. But the rest of the year we can be in the 60th through 80A with very low humidity. Almost never been frost or snow. Everything is fine and the place of air conditioning to offset the high temperatures. We are in a desert so rain is rare. We average less than seven inches a year and most days are sunny and cloud free. The only pollution comes from neighboring cities and painfully traffic along one of our two highways. We have a wonderful few malls with the normal end designer stores and the Wal-Mart, schools trade. But what sets us apart from many other cities, is our environment.

As I said, were built in a desert, more specifically, the Sonoran Desert. Therefore, have panoramic views of mountains and streams, and saguaro cactus plant height. There are palm trees of different sizes that can grow to 50 feet high. Many homes use xeroscaping excluding grass and nonnative plants. Rockscaped meters are common. Another common feature is the ranch-style homes built on one level. Many have clay tile roofs and stucco exteriors tone to combat the sun. There are also pools of cheap land. This is not a luxury. The Most homes have air conditioning and ceiling fans. Tile floors are a common sight in every price range, composed of many tiles from Mexico. Trees citrus lemon orange and grapefruit, growing everywhere. Unfortunately, so do scorpions, rattlesnakes and black widows. We're home with Gila monsters and other smaller lizards. Add to the roadrunner and coyote, and you have the photo of wildlife.

So why Scottsdale I like so much? Well, Italian is very different from Red Bank, New Jersey, where I grew up. I like sunny days, western landscape, lack of crowds, and style relaxed life. It has a bit of California, without shades of the beach, although I drive to Rocky Point and set on a Mexican beach in San Diego and 4.5 hours in 6 hours. I can be in Las Vegas in 45 minutes by air. There Mexican food is great, modern buildings, low crime, good schools, and state of the art facilities medicine. Each year, we have many retirees from the Midwest area. Most have vacationed here for years, waiting for the opportunity to get a house winter here.

You may be wondering the point of me Whata saying all this? Am I a sucker for the Department of Tourism, who encourage you to visit or move here? Heck No! Although I love living here, I hope you stay where you are. I hope no one moves only new thing for many of our streets and companies. But that's not going to happen, IÂ'm afraid. Therefore, I will point out the disadvantages. Apartment arenÂ't economic, summer is a bitch, we have only two highways, one with photo-radar to catch violators, and sadly, Mike Tyson. What should you stop short. Did I mention that died Bob Crane of Hogan's Heroes fame at a motel in Scottsdale? Fortunately, that's the final straw. Now stop whining, go back to their jobs and clear the accumulation of snow in his driveway.

I've never been camping before, I need some advice please!?

So some of my friends want to go camping for Sping break, which is in a month, but none of us, with nothing of camping! We stand alone, without people near a lake so we can swim and lots of trees so we can walk in a forest type, we have tents and all the essentials, but do not know where camp! We live in Los Angeles, so prefer somewhere in California, Arizona or Nevada, but would be fine. Thank you!

careful with the cables stores hold down the tent fell into an old lady before fun, but painful!

If "Joe" meeting aims at enforcing laws?

http://www.phoenixnewtimes.com/2008-10-09/news/sheriff-joe-arpaio-s-jails-lose-national-accreditation/ # comments Accreditation Maricopa jail County Sheriff Joe Arpaio was fired last month - even while waiting for a federal court decision that may make their prisons outside of their control. "Now, a review public records reveals that no Arpaio for years to prove he had the proper credentials to operate county jails. This violates a state law that went in effect in 2003 and requires sheriffs to annually provide the Arizona Department of Health, with proof that their jails meet national standards. From 2003 to 2007, Arpaio not provide the necessary evidence for the department. "

Sheriff Joe is responsible for his actions like anyone else is, be aware that occurs to a greater accountability because of its position in the community. You've published quite the question / article there. It appears that Sheriff Joe is having problems in the long term. Now I spent considerable time reading and be referred by looking through some of the links and saw one sheriff's office, "All prison facilities Maricopa County. "Is not Sheriff Joe Arpaio is the Maricopa County Sheriff? Who else might be gathered in? It reminds me a little reading about shopping campaign when it began to acquire titles, I'd be lying if I said I really could not remember all the events of those times, but I clearly remember reading about it. This is what I found regarding the history of the tents. Open six years ago, this had had a bad start. Criminals Arizona also find'tents in jail, ' "July 27, 1999 Web posted at: 2:00 pm EDT (1800 GMT)," Maricopa County, Arizona (CNN) - The city of tents resembles a military camp in the desert, with thick canvas bedrooms lying in a remote area of Arizona. The inhabitants, however, are not soldiers, but residents of a strange, some say brutal, prison run by legendary Sheriff Joe Arpaio, known as the toughest sheriff in the West. A county sheriff Maricopa, which opened the prison largest store in 1993, saving taxpayers cents matters more than comforting to convicted criminals. "We away coffee, that saved $ 150,000 a year. Why does coffee in jail? "Says Arpaio, patrolling the dust, arid lands. "Switched to bologna sandwiches, that saved half a million dollars a year." Arpaio makes inmates pay for their meals, Some say they are worse than guard dogs. Canines eat $ 1.10 worth of food the day, the inmate 90 cents, the sheriff says. "I'm very proud of that too. "Critics rail against the harsh conditions in prison, where temperatures can exceed 100 degrees." Yet have rights, but act as though we were rubbish, "one inmate complains. Adds Eleanor Eisenberg of the ACLU:" Sheriff Arpaio has conditions in prison, they are inhuman, and he is proud of it. "Arpaio boasts of its teams of men and women who" contribute thousands of dollars of free labor to taxpayers of each month, "according to its Web site. pink underwear and Bedtime Stories inmates follow strict fashion and lifestyle guidelines. They are forced to use the old stripes and pink underwear. Prohibited items include cigarettes, adult magazines, hot lunches and television - except for his story before reading sleep, an alleged literacy program broadcast at night to inmates. The sheriff, who spent over 25 years in the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, including a stint as special agent in Turkey, has taken the justice to rare extremes in other areas. Group has the nation's largest law enforcement Volunteer, according to its Web site. Over 2,500 people are in his gang, "who go after prostitutes, graffiti artists and criminals in malls. Although Arpaio has reduced the budget of the prison, his unorthodox style of prison management has led to some high legal costs. The country has been beaten with hundreds of prisoners related to litigation, and the payment of millions of dollars in legal damages. Of the latest cases are: In January, the county settled a wrongful act in death suit filed by the family of Scott Norberg, for $ 8.5 million. He died, apparently by suffocation, as he struggled with prison guards in 1996. In April, a jury awarded $ 1.5 million to an inmate refused medical treatment for a perforated ulcer. Tim Griffin, who was arrested for driving with a suspended license, requires several operations for perforated ulcer. Another former inmate suing Arpaio, Richard Post, a paraplegic, said guards treated him brutally and damaged spinal cord. Arpaio, who has also established a civil lawsuit with the U.S. Justice Department about prison conditions, brushes allegations of brutality. "That is rubbish. Look at my officers. We run the system more secure prison in the U.S.," he said. Arpaio is one of the most popular of the state insurance office. Enjoy a 85 percent approval rating among voters in the county, 9,200 square miles that is larger than some states, and includes the city of Phoenix. Even some inmates treated as a celebrity. As the sheriff is in a group of prisoners, there is a notebook. "You want an autograph? What you here? What is your name? "He asks. On another occasion, a prisoner, an angry look on his face, try to talk with the sheriff, who quickly is interrupted: "You have been convicted.'re doing your time. Do your time and your mouth shut and do what you have to do." http://www.cnn.com/US/9907/27/tough.sheriff/ What speaks in 1999 that had been happening for years earlier than the article in the link of the question is talking about and that is "The detainees claim that the Prisons are operated unconstitutional because poor health care and other violations of civil rights.
